A new Rare Blue Diamond will go on Auction by Sotheby's Hong Kong on April 5 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Known as the "De Beers Millennium Jewel 4", it's part of the twelve rare diamonds and is the only oval-shaped stone among - eleven blue and one colourless – that form the De Beers Millennium Jewels collection unveiled by De Beers in 2000 in celebration of the millennium.
The gem is from an Asian private collection and is estimated value around HKD 235 million to 280 million.
The previous blue Diamond, 'The Blue Moon of Josephine', a sensational 12.03-carat fancy vivid blue internally flawless diamond.
Among the largest known fancy vivid blue diamonds, this stone demonstrates the highest possible colour grading for blue diamonds and as been sold to a Hong Kong collector @379 million HKD.
