Gem Diamonds has recovered a 163-carat, type I yellow diamond at its Letšeng mine in Lesotho, the third over 100 carats the company has found this year.
The unbroken stone, which the miner unearthed on Wednesday, follows the retrieval of a 114-carat, “high-quality,” D-color diamond in March, and a 183-carat, type IIa, “exceptional” stone in February.
In May, following the coronavirus lockdown, the miner also recovered a 60-carat, light-yellow, type I diamond, and three D-color, white, type II diamonds weighing 87, 66 and 23 carats.
Five D colour and 13 carat pink diamond recovered between Feb 28 and March 3, 2020
